As every year, when the second half of August arrives, the “tabal” (a traditional Valencian drum) and the “dolçaina” (a typical Valencian instrument) begin to sound and set the pace of the traditional dances that start on the 15th, but reached their peak during the nights form the 23rd to 27th August. They take place in a magical place, the Town Hall Square, decorated for the ocasion , as well as the “balladors” and “balladores” (dancers), wearing their colorful striking costumes. On the 22nd a parade will take place with floats and the endearing “cabolos” (carnival figures with oversized heads) as we call them in Bocairent. On the 28th, the festivities will come to an end by celebrating St. Augustine day.
It is a festival full of traditions and culture and both adults and children enjoy with. We leave you a video with a sample the dances from last year.
